The S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) has sadly broken its near-two-week winning streak this Wednesday. After recording a gain every single session since Thursday 8 June, the ASX 200 finished up in the red today. The index closed up shop at 7,314.9 points, a loss of 0.58%.

Well, it was going to end eventually.

But rather than dwelling on the end of that impressive run, let's check out which ASX 200 sectors were the movers and shakers this Wednesday.

There were only two sectors of the ASX that recorded a green day. Leading these was the S&P/ASX 200 Consumer Staples Index (ASX: XSJ). Consumer staples shares rose by a decent 0.71%, helped no doubt by Woolworths Group Ltd (ASX: WOW)'s new 52-week high.

ASX healthcare shares also had a decent showing, with the S&P/ASX 200 Health Care Index (ASX: XHJ) up 0.27%.

Now, let's get to the losers.

The biggest drag on ASX shares this session was the gold sector. The All Ordinaries Gold Index (ASX: XGD) dropped by a nasty 1.85%. Energy shares were also a laggard, with the S&P/ASX 200 Energy Index (ASX: XEJ) falling a sad 1.34% today.

The S&P/ASX 200 Materials Index (ASX: XMJ) was another loser, slipping 1.02%, while the S&P/ASX 200 Consumer Discretionary Index (ASX: XDJ) tanked a nastier 1.2%.
