About Magellan Financial Group Ltd
Magellan Financial Group Ltd (ASX: MFG) is an Australian-based diversified financial services group. Its heritage business is a funds manager investing in global equities and global listed infrastructure, founded in 2006.
In 2026, Magellan completed a merger with investment bank Barrenjoey Capital Partners, valuing Barrenjoey at approximately $1.6 billion, broadening the group's offering into advisory, capital markets, equities research, and private capital.
The fund management business has faced significant outflows and underperformance in recent years relative to its peers, and the group has been undertaking a broader strategic reset, including outsourcing management of some of its Global Equities funds to Vinva Investment Management.
