Once a week, I like to look at ASIC's short position report to find out which ASX shares are being targeted by short sellers.

That's because I believe it is worth keeping a close eye on short interest levels as high levels can sometimes be a sign that something isn't quite right with a company.

With that in mind, listed below are the 10 most shorted shares on the ASX this week according to ASIC.

The top 10 most shorted ASX shares

  • Lotus Resources Ltd (ASX: LOT) continues its long run as Australia's most shorted share with short interest of 22.8%. This uranium developer's shares have been suspended for some time while it prepares a funding package.
  • Domino's Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX: DMP) has seen its short interest remain flat at 13.8%. Short sellers seem to be betting against this pizza chain operator's turnaround plans.
  • 4DMedical Ltd (ASX: 4DX) has short interest of 13.1%. This could be due to valuation concerns. The medical technology company has reported revenue of $5 million year to date in FY 2026, but has a market capitalisation of almost $2 billion.
  • DroneShield Ltd (ASX: DRO) has short interest of 13.1%, which is up again since last week. This could also be due to valuation concerns, as well as the company's recent disclosure of an ASIC investigation relating to certain company announcements and share sales.
  • Flight Centre Travel Group Ltd (ASX: FLT) has 12.2% of its shares held short, which is up week on week again. Short sellers appear to believe the Middle East conflict could negatively impact the travel agent.
  • Boss Energy Ltd (ASX: BOE) has short interest of 11.9%, which is up week on week. Short sellers will be eagerly anticipating the release of this uranium miner's production update later this week. There are concerns over its production outlook beyond 2027.
  • Telix Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX: TLX) has short interest of 11.8%, which is up slightly again week on week. Short sellers have been loading up on this radiopharmaceuticals company's shares since it struggled gaining US FDA approvals.
  • CAR Group Limited (ASX: CAR) has short interest of 11.6%, which is flat since last week. There may be concerns that higher interest rates could negatively impact the auto listings company's performance.
  • Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX: PDN) has 11.5% of its shares held short, which is flat week on week. Short sellers will have been disappointed to see this uranium producer's shares rally this month following a positive quarterly update.
  • Elders Ltd (ASX: ELD) has short interest of 10.5%, which is down week on week. This agribusiness company has underperformed the market's expectations this year. Short sellers appear to believe this trend will continue.
