Carsales.Com Ltd (CAR) is Australia’s largest online automotive, motorcycle and marine classifieds business. What many Aussies may not know, however, is that Carsales has operations and interests in a range of different automotive classifieds websites in countries across Asia and South America, making it one of the largest digital automotive advertising businesses in the world.

Together with its subsidiaries, Carsales employs over 600 people in Australia to develop leading technology and advertising solutions that drive its business around the world. Carsales’ history dates back to 1997 and the company went on to list on the ASX in 2009. Since then, Carsales shares have grown to become part of the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) and have historically paid a portion of its profits back to shareholders as dividends.

FAQ

Will Carsales.Com pay a dividend in 2020?

Carsales.com paid a fully franked interim dividend of 22 cents per share on 15 April 2020. Historically, the company pays its final dividend around mid-October. Carsales.com withdrew its FY20 outlook guidance on 20 March due to the impacts of COVID-19. Whilst this places some doubt over the certainty of a final dividend payment, the company has paid twice yearly dividends every year since listing in 2009.

Does Carsales.Com offer a DRP?

Yes. Carsales.com offers optional participation in its dividend reinvestment plan for all shareholders residing in Australia and New Zealand. Shareholders can elect to engage in either full or partial participation in the plan. The price at which shares are issued or transferred to participants is decided by the Board and can, at the Board’s discretion, include a discount.
