After a shaky start in the red this morning, the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) ended up closing higher on Tuesday afternoon. The ASX 200 finished the day at 7,138.9 points, a gain of 0.23%

These gains might have been helped by last week's strong finish on the US markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (DJX: .DJI) rose 0.56% on Friday night (our time). The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index (NASDAQ: .IXIC) did far better though, shooting up by 1.53%.

After recently reentering a bull market, the S&P 500 Index (SP: .INX) recorded another 0.93% as well.

Today's strong session on the local share market was led by ASX tech shares, with the S&P/ASX 200 Information Technology Index (ASX: XIJ) rocketing by a pleasing 3.76%.

Mining shares performed poorly by comparison, with the S&P/ASX 200 Materials Index (ASX: XMJ) losing 0.77% of its value.

Another strong showing came from the S&P/ASX 200 Communication Services Index (ASX: XTJ), which rose by 1.05%. The worst-performing sector this Monday was gold miners, with the S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Gold Index (ASX: XGD) falling by 1.91%.

So, with all of that out of the way, let's now check out the top ten ASX 200 share performers of today's session.

Top 10 ASX 200 shares countdown

This Tuesday, it was uranium stock Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX: PDN) that took the crown for the top-performing ASX 200 share. Paladin rose by an eye-watering 9.35% to 76 cents a share.

There wasn't any news out of Paladin itself to explain this gain but, as we discussed this afternoon, uranium shares collectively had a strong day, perhaps as a result of some recent broker love for the sector.

Here's a look at the other ASX 200 shares that topped out the markets this Monday with the largest gains:
