The S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) endured a rough session this Tuesday, dragging the value of many ASX shares lower. After yesterday's excited start to the trading week, investors were more cautious today, with the markets opening in red territory and staying there all day. By the time trading wrapped up, the ASX 200 had lost 0.33% of its value. That leaves the index at 8,816.9 points.
This disappointing Tuesday session for the local markets followed a mixed start to the American trading week in the early hours of this morning.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (DJX: .DJI) wasn't in a great mood after the weekend, losing 0.07% of its value.
However, things were far better for the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index (NASDAQ: .IXIC), which rose a healthy 1.11%.
But let us return to ASX shares now and take stock of how the different ASX sectors performed this Tuesday.
