The Crown Resorts Ltd (ASX: CWN) share price was hit hard today, as was Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX: TLS), in what was overall a down day for the local share market.

- Gold at US$1,242.91 an ounce
- Brent oil at US$56.59 a barrel
The Telstra share price declined 3.7% and hit its lowest price since 2013 today as the shares traded ex-dividend. The Crown Resorts share price also declined 7.7% after its shares traded ex-dividend.
Unfortunately, there were a number of other big losers for the day. The Harvey Norman Holdings Limited (ASX: HVN) share price fell sharply, down 5.8%, while Ardent Leisure Group (ASX: AAD) and Spotless Group Holdings Ltd (ASX: SPO) fell 5.2% and 5.9%, respectively.
Worleyparsons Limited (ASX: WOR) also gave back 4.3% following yesterday's takeover-inspired rally, and APN Outdoor Group Ltd (ASX: APO) declined 4.1%.
Meanwhile, things went from bad to worse for the Slater & Gordon Limited (ASX: SGH) share price, which was slammed another 27.6%. Yowie Group Ltd (ASX: YOW) also shed 9.7% of their market value.
There weren't as many businesses that posted strong gains as there were those that recorded sharp losses. Nevertheless, the Bega Cheese Ltd (ASX: BGA) rose 2.9% and Credit Corp Group Limited (ASX: CCP) rose 1.8%.
