Harvey Norman Holdings Limited (HVN) is one of Australia’s leading discretionary retailers, operating through its brands of Harvey Norman, Domayne and Joyce Mayne to deliver a whole host of products from electronics and appliances to furniture and homeware.
Harvey Norman operates under a franchise system, granting franchises to independent store owners along with managing a network of company-owned stores as well. Harvey Norman’s operations extend far and wide across the globe, with stores in Singapore, Malaysia, Ireland, Slovenia, and Croatia.
The company was established by founders Gerry Harvey and Ian Norman in 1982 with one store in Auburn, Sydney. In the decades since, Harvey Norman has significantly grown its footprint, capitalising on its dominant market position and expanding its product offerings. Harvey Norman shares first listed on the ASX in 1987 and now sit within the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) as one of Australia’s largest public companies.
