Today, the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) was pulled in two directions from competing market news. The benchmark index finished down 0.12% to 7,502.1 points. Most of the weight on the index came from weakness in BHP Group Ltd (ASX: BHP) and CSL Limited (ASX: CSL).
