It's been an interesting year for ASX shares so far. Inflation woes, cost-of-living fears, cash rate hikes, a slumping property market, and geopolitical volatility have sent investors into a panic and share market indexes have swung between peaks and troughs.
But now, there's only around eight weeks left of the 2026 calendar year. And with the remaining few weeks now in sight, it's only natural that I have my sights on which ASX shares are going to finish the year strongly.
So I decided to hunt around for ASX shares which have quietly remained strong or rebounded. And pinpoint those with potential to end on a high in 2026.
Megaport shares suffered a sell-off through the first quarter of 2026, before reaching a three-year low of just $6.48 in early-April.
The decline was due to a combination of company and market-wide headwinds. These include a sector-wide rotation away from technology shares, AI fears, a disappointing first-half result, revised earnings guidance, and investor concerns about mounting acquisition costs.
But since hitting that multi-year low, Megaport's headwinds cooled and its shares stormed back into life. A surge in investor confidence in technology stocks, a strong FY26 earnings result, and several new contract wins has seen a huge 173% share price rebound to the time of writing.
In August, Megaport reported an impressive FY26 result. Highlights include a 37% increase in revenue, a 24% increase in EBITDA, and a 62% hike in group annual recurring revenue. The results came in at the high end of guidance.
Megaport has also confirmed several new contract wins between late April and late September, including $1 billion of AI deals in late September.
The NaaS (Network-as-a-Service) provider said it has signed three AI infrastructure contracts through Megaport's Latitude.sh business. These are worth roughly $978.6 million in total.
The new agreements have brought Megaport's combined total contract value for strategic contracts announced since April 2026 to $2.3 billion.
But it wasn't only Megaport's share price resurgence which caught my attention.
There is an upcoming catalyst for Megaport's shares before the end of the year.
The company is scheduled to hold its AGM on 26th of November. The results of which I think could propel the share price higher.
The latest share price rally is good news, but the market wants more concrete proof that the company is able to make good on its promise for operational excellence.
Investors will want to know if Megaport can show a clear demonstration of how it plans to translate its $2.3 billion of contract wins into an annual recurring revenue.
If Megaport is able to reassure investors, at its AGM, of a clear plan for a return to profitability, and is able to give a trading update which confirms its upgraded FY27 revenue guidance, I think we could see another strong share price rally, ending 2026 on a high.
