The S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) appears set to edge higher this morning following a slight recovery by the tech-heavy NASDAQ index overnight. The futures market is pointing to a 16-point gain at the open.

Here's a quick recap:

  • FTSE 100 (UK): down 0.21%
  • DAX (Germany): up 0.08%

The Premier Investments Limited (ASX: PMV) share price could be in focus again today after the shares slipped 4.3% on Tuesday.

While the fall came a day after the company released its full-year earnings results, it also coincided with comments made by comments from its chairman, Solomon Lew, regarding Myer Holdings Ltd (ASX: MYR). The Myer share price, on the other hand, lifted 1.4% for the session, while fellow retailer Harvey Norman Holdings Limited (ASX: HVN) dropped 3%.

The Galaxy Resources Limited (ASX: GXY) share price was the top performer for the day, rising 5.4%. The shares have gained more than 54% over the past three months and could warrant more attention today.

Iron ore rebounded 3% overnight, which could assist shares of companies such as Fortescue Metals Group Limited (ASX: FMG). Oil prices slipped 1% while gold slipped a little more, which could weigh on shares of businesses such as Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX: NCM).
