The S&P/ASX 200 Index (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) has finished the day flat, posting a fall of just 0.04%. After initially slipping, the local bourse managed to stage a recovery and briefly turned positive, however it was unable to hold those gains, finishing the day in negative territory.
On Friday US markets were lower after the Dow Jones dropped 0.94% and the S&P 500 lost 0.65%. Investors appear to remain concerned about the health of emerging market economies; while on the domestic front mixed economic news failed to give traders clear direction.
