Key points

  • The iShares S&P 500 ETF (ASX: IVV), which tracks the S&P 500 Index, comprising the 500 largest companies in the US, is on a strong run due to AI hype and expectations of lower interest rates.
  • IVV ETF was the most bought exchange-traded fund among clients of online trading platform, Stake, over the six months ending 30 June 2025.
  • The second-most bought ETF was Vanguard Australian Shares Index ETF (ASX: VAS), which tracks the S&P/ASX 300 Index, covering the 300 largest Australian companies, and the largest ASX ETF by market capitalisation.

iShares S&P 500 AUD ETF (ASX: IVV) hit a fresh all-time high of $69.87 per unit on Tuesday morning.

The IVV exchange-traded fund (ETF) is experiencing a strong run in 2025 amid the US market continuing to climb.

The key drivers powering the US market include global hype over artificial intelligence (AI) and expectations of lower interest rates, given the weakening jobs market.

Online trading platform provider, Stake, says IVV ETF was the most bought ASX ETF among its Australian clients in the six months ending 30 June.

Remember, that period included a dramatic fall in stock values in April after US President Donald Trump revealed his administration's reciprocal tariffs on trading partners.

Stake has revealed the top 5 ASX ETFs purchased by its customers in 2H FY25 in its newly-released Ambition Report.

Here they are.
