The cryptocurrency market continues to recover after having a bad start to the week a few days ago. Here are the latest movements:

Ethereum (ETH) has gone up by over 5% during the past day to US$300.90. Its market capitalisation now stands at US$30.5 billion. It has gained some ground on Bitcoin during the last day.

Bitcoin (BTC) has risen by 2.39% during the past 24 hours to US$6,496.06. Its market capitalisation is currently US$111.8 billion for now. The leading cryptocurrency is inching back towards US$7,000.

Ripple (XRP) is the biggest gainer today, it has shot up by 5.79% during the past day to US$0.30. However, it has still fallen significantly since its all-time high of US$3.78 at the start of the year. Its market capitalisation is US$11.87 billion today as it stands.

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has recovered by 4.78% over the past 24 hours to US$519.77. It has declined by more than 80% since its high in December 2017. Its market capitalisation now represents US$9 billion.

EOS (EOS) has gone upwards by 2.93% during the past 24 hours to US$4.81. Its market capitalisation has reached US$4.36 billion.

Also, during the past day: Litecoin (LTC) is up 3.07%, Stellar (XLM) is up 3.3%, Cardano (ADA) is up 3.97%, Tether (USDT) is up 0.01%, TRON (TRX) is up 5.54%, Monero (XMR) is up 5.36%, Ethereum Classic (ETC) is down 2.38% and IOTA (MIOTA) is up 7.29%.

Going into the weekend the cryptocurrency market seems to be in a good place, but who knows what will happen next week? Either way, I'd rather own some quality technology shares for the long-term like Altium Limited (ASX: ALU), Citadel Group Ltd (ASX: CGL) and Appen Ltd (ASX: APX).

Motley Fool contributor Tristan Harrison owns shares of Altium. The Motley Fool Australia owns shares of Altium, Appen Ltd, and Citadel Group Ltd.
