Australia's tech sector may not be comparable to the United States, Europe, and China, but that doesn't mean there aren't any quality tech shares with global ambitions on our market.

Three tech shares which I think are well worth keeping a close eye on in 2018 are listed below. Here's why I like them:

Big Un Ltd (ASX: BIG)

The video technology company's shares have gone gangbusters this year as its cash receipts increase at an impressively strong rate. I expect that the company will be able to continue this strong form in 2018 as its expands its footprint further internationally and attempts to monetise its ever-increasing library of video content.

Elsight Ltd (ASX: ELS)

I'll be watching this exciting secure transmissions company carefully in 2018. Elsight recently won a major contract with the Israeli Ministry of Public Security, which I believe demonstrates the quality of its technology. Looking to the future, management has its eyes fixed on the lucrative autonomous vehicle market which is predicted to be worth billions in the next decade.

Livetiles Ltd (ASX: LVT)

On Thursday this digital workplace platform provider announced that it has joined forces with tech-giant Microsoft in the fast-growing artificial intelligence market. This deal will see Microsoft promote LiveTiles Bots as a solution that demystifies AI technology and can be quickly deployed within its Azure platform. Management has a bold ambition of securing a leadership position in the rapidly emerging AI industry in the future. Considering the size of the opportunity, I would watch this one very closely.
