About IDP Education Ltd
IDP Education Ltd (ASX: IEL) is a leading player in international education services, helping international students study in English-speaking countries. The company also co-owns the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the world’s most popular high stakes English language test.
The company’s history dates all the way back to 1969 when it was established as Australian Asian Universities Corporation Scheme to help develop universities in South-East Asia. In 1981, the company rebranded to International Development Programs (IDP). After becoming wholly-owned by 38 Australian universities in 1996 and then 50% owned by SEEK Limited (ASX: SEK) in 2006, IDP Education shares listed on the ASX in 2015.
Today, the company operates in over 50 countries and is the industry leader for students considering studying in Australia.
