With the Fortescue Metals Group Limited (ASX: FMG) share price falling sharply this year, its shares now provide one of the biggest dividend yields in the resources sector.
If the iron ore price remains favourable and the miner is able to maintain its current pay out in the year ahead, investors can look forward to a fully franked 6% dividend.
When do you need to invest to receive it?
The next dividend on the horizon for Fortescue shareholders is its final dividend which is traditionally paid out during the first week of October.
Its shares normally go ex-dividend for this one at the start of September.
After which, shareholders will then receive its interim dividend at the start of April 2018.
But it is of course worth remembering that at this stage no final dividend has been declared yet and the company's ability to pay its dividend relies heavily on the iron ore price.
