How to turn $20 a week into $117,815

If you want to get rich, you've come to the right place.

And, best of all, you can start with as little as $20 a week and this one secret to wealth…

It's the secret no-one wants you to know. Especially the pros.

That's because I'm not going to push some crappy investments on you.

Ask you to sell Amway.

Tell you to 'trade' BHP Billiton Limited (ASX: BHP) shares.

Or invite you to a 'free' motivational seminar I dubbed "Property Spruiking, The Old Fashioned Way".

I'm going to give you one of the tools I gave to my six-year-old sister just last year.

My secret strategy goes like this:

Step 1: Call your super fund (or go online). Make sure you are invested in local and overseas shares, or their 'high growth' option. This strategy applies to anyone who considers themselves to be young (in my book, anyone below 50 is 'young').

Step 2: Log into your online banking and set up a direct deposit of $20 per week to your super fund.

Step 3: There is no step three.

How does that help me?

According to Vanguard, since 1970 Aussie shares have returned an average of 10.7% per year.

I'm going to be a little more conservative and assume an 8% return after fees.

So, assuming an 8% return each year, after 30 years, this happens:

Source: raskfinance.com

Yes, you're reading that correctly: $20 per week would become $117,815 assuming an 8% return.

If you wait five years, you'll end up with $76,030.

Still a handy return — for the price of two longnecks at a swanky outer-city pub.

If you don't have 25 years, you can do only one thing: invest more.

Don't try and invest in speculative nonsense. Just find a way to invest more. Maybe work longer, cut spending, or get a second job.

Foolish Takeaway

You can supercharge your wealth with two easy steps and $20 a week. No more dorky seminars with a 'medium' sent from the property gods.

Just $20 per week.

Simple.

In the 25 minutes it took me to write this article, I adjusted my super fund investment details and setup my direct debit.
