BHP maintained strong operational performance across its key segments, with copper now accounting for 54% of group EBITDA and iron ore at record production. The company said it achieved a 6% unit cost reduction across major assets, further lifting its sector-leading profit margins.
Shareholder returns continue to be a priority, with BHP announcing it has unlocked US$6.3 billion in capital during the year and flagged a potential to unlock up to US$10 billion through infrastructure deals and asset sales. In addition, BHP reports ongoing investments in safety, decarbonisation, and digital technologies to drive long-term productivity.

What's next for BHP Group?
Looking ahead, BHP is guiding for solid production growth, targeting a 3–4% compound annual growth rate in copper equivalent volumes through to FY35. The company is investing in a pipeline of organic growth projects, particularly in copper and potash, to respond to global megatrends like electrification and decarbonisation. Cost control and capital discipline will remain central to its strategy, with capex steady at around US$11 billion for FY27.
Management also flagged ongoing commitment to its climate and social value goals, including operational GHG emissions reduction and deepening Indigenous partnerships. Investors can expect BHP to continue prioritising capital returns while growing a future-facing portfolio.
