About GPT Group
GPT Group (ASX: GPT) is one of Australia's largest listed property trusts. It owns and manages a portfolio of Australian office, logistics, and retail assets worth more than $16 billion. It also has funds under management of more than $19 billion.
The General Property Trust was Australia's first-ever property trust when it listed on the ASX in 1971. It was launched and managed by Lendlease Corporation, now Lendlease Group (ASX: LLC), before spinning out as an independent company in 2005.
The GPT business strategy is not particularly differentiated from its peers, other than through its relatively conservative gearing and modest emphasis on development activity. GPT has a growing portfolio weighting to industrial and logistics property assets, around 28% at last report. Its retail and office assets are roughly evenly split to make up the remainder.
