About Ampol Limited
Ampol Ltd (ASX: ALD) is the largest, and only Australian-listed, petroleum refiner and distributor in the country, with around 2,000 branded Ampol service stations across all states and territories.
Ampol was formerly known as Caltex, a major international brand of US oil and gas giant Chevron which previously owned 50% of the company. Chevron sold its holding in 2015 and later terminated the company's licence to use the Caltex name in Australia. Caltex service stations now operating in Australia are not owned by Ampol.
The company has been operating in Australia for more than 100 years. It still owns and operates a refinery at Lytton in Brisbane after closing Sydney's Kurnell refinery to focus on its more profitable distribution/retail segment.
Ampol operates in New Zealand under the Z Energy banner. It also owns a 20% interest in Seaoil, a leading independent fuel company in the Philippines.
