About Australian Finance Group Ltd

Headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, Australian Finance Group Ltd (ASX: AFG) is one of the country’s largest mortgage broking groups. The company was established in 1994 and began life as a aggregator, providing mortgage brokers with access to loan products and support services.

Today, the company employs more than 200 staff Australia-wide and works with nearly 3,000 finance brokers across the country. Its offerings include mortgage aggregation as well as business finance, insurance, and own-label securitised products. According to the company, AFG brokers are able to offer their clients a choice of more than 3,800 finance products from leading Australian lenders including the big four banks.

AFG assists around 7,500 Australians to secure loans and, as at September 2020, has a loan book around $140 billion in size.

Australian Finance Group shares first began trading on the ASX in May 2015. The AFG share price was hit hard by the pandemic in 2020, falling nearly 70% between February and March. As at September 2020, the AFG share price had partially recovered but had failed to reach its pre-pandemic highs.

Mr Medcraft's career was spent with accounting firm KPMG before spending 26 years with Societe Generale in Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas, and then as CEO of the industry group, the Australian Securitisation Forum.
