The company was founded in a Melbourne garage in 2006 and listed on the ASX 10 years later in July 2016.

Kogan paid out twice-yearly dividends between 2017 and 2020. However, its dividend payments then ceased, with its last payout being an interim dividend of 16 cents a share in May 2021.
It is not known if and when the company will resume paying dividends.
