About Sandfire Resources NL
Sandfire Resources Ltd (ASX: SFR) is a global mineral exploration and development company, largely focused on copper. The company's principal asset is the DeGrussa copper-gold project located 900 kilometres northeast of Perth in the Bryah Basin. Production is over 60,000 tonnes of copper per year with a cash cost of around USD$ 1.00 per pound, better than the industry average. Reserve life is only less than five years.
Cash flows from DeGrussa have allowed Sandfire to complete the US$1.865 billion acquisition of the MATSA mining operations in Spain and the development of a long-life copper project in Botswana, the Motheo Copper Mine.
The MATSA operations consist of three underground mines and a processing facility. Sandfire says the large-scale, long-life asset will be the backbone of its business for the next decade and beyond, together with its emerging operations in Botswana. The company, via the Canadian-listed entity Sandfire Resources America Inc. (TSX-V: SFR), also holds an 87% interest in the undeveloped high-grade Black Butte copper project in the US state of Montana.
