    The airline was originally registered as Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited.

    Qantas has a sporadic history of dividend payments. After paying a fully franked interim dividend in April 2009, the airline ceased the payments until resuming twice-yearly dividend payments from October 2016 to September 2019.

    In June 2020, the company cancelled its dividend distribution amid operating challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has not resumed its dividends scheme since then.

    Qantas Airways Limited (ASX: QAN) was founded in outback Queensland in 1920 and is the world’s third oldest airline. Now Australia's flagship domestic and international airline, it began international passenger flights in May 1935 and is widely regarded as one of the world’s best long-distance carriers with a reputation for safety, operational reliability, engineering and maintenance, and customer service.

    The Qantas Group's core business is the transportation of customers using two complementary airline brands -- Qantas and Jetstar -- operating regional, domestic and international services.
