About Lotus Resources Limited
Lotus Resources Ltd (ASX: LOT) is an Australian resources company with interests in Malawi, Africa. It owns an 85% stake in the Kayelekera Uranium Project located in northern Malawi. Kayelekera is currently under care and maintenance although produced approximately 11 million pounds of uranium before it closed in 2014 due to sustained low uranium prices.
Lotus released a Re-Start Definitive Feasibility Study in August 2022 that found Kayelekera ranks as one of the lowest capital cost (US$88m) uranium projects globally. The study found it also has the ability to quickly recommence production (around 15 months) once a Final Investment Decision (FID) is made on the project.
In July 2023, Lotus Resources announced a merger with ACAP Energy (ASX: ACB) to create a leading African-focused uranium player. The merger combines Kayelekera with a prospective growth asset, Letlhakane, located in Botswana, Africa.
