About Energy Resources of Australia Ltd
Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ASX: ERA) is currently rehabilitating the site of the former Ranger uranium mine in the Northern Territory. Operations to mine uranium oxide began in 1981 and ceased in 2012. Processing of the stockpile continued at the site until all operations ceased in 2021.
The Ranger Project Area is surrounded by the Kakadu National Park. Energy Resources of Australia announced its mine closure plan in 2022 which involves comprehensive rehabilitation of the 79 square kilometre site in line with federal government requirements and in consultation with traditional owners. Energy Resources of Australia is around 86% owned by Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX: RIO).
