About CSR Ltd
CSR Limited (ASX CSR) provides a range of building products for residential and commercial construction across Australia and New Zealand. The company also has an interest in the Tomago aluminium smelter, one of Australasia’s largest aluminium smelters.
The company was founded in the mid-1800s as the Colonial Sugar Refining Company − hence the name CSR. It went on to diversify operations into building products and eventually sold off its sugar business in 2009. CSR’s history on the ASX dates back to 1962 when the CSR share price was first listed.
