About AVZ Minerals Ltd
AVZ Minerals Ltd (ASX: AVZ) is a Perth-based company focused on mineral exploration. The company’s key project is the Manono Lithium and Tin Project which is located in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa.
According to the company, this project is one of the largest lithium-rich LCT (lithium, caesium, tantalum) deposits in the world. AVZ Minerals owns a 60% interest in the project as well as 100% of the extension project in the surrounding area.
AVZ Minerals conducted an evaluation program at the Manono project during 2017 and 2018. The company reports that the Manono pegmatites extend around 13km in length and are more than 240m thick in parts.
The mine is not yet operational, and the company continues to focus on progressing it through to feasibility and development stages.
The company first listed on the ASX in 2007. As is common with junior resources shares, the AVZ Minerals share price has struggled to maintain momentum. After reaching as high as 34 cents in early 2018, AVZ Minerals shares then trended down and have since spent 2019 and 2020 trading under 10 cents.
