    AVZ Minerals Ltd (ASX: AVZ) is an Australian-based mineral exploration company.

    Its primary focus is on developing the Manono Project, potentially one of the world's largest lithium-rich LCT (lithium, caesium, tantalum) pegmatite deposits. Manono is located in the south of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in central Africa. 

    The Project also covers the historic Manono Mine, a pegmatite deposit mined for its tin content from 1919 to 1982.

    The company is headquartered in Perth, Western Australia.

Following this, Mr Johnston was a founding director of Goldstar Resources and then Ferrowest Limited where he was Technical Director for nine years and contributed to the completion of the Feasibility Study for the Yalgoo Pig Iron Project.
