Western Areas Ltd (ASX: WSA) (formerly Western Areas NL) is an Australia-based nickel producer. Western Areas owns the Forrestania Nickel Project, along with development projects in Canada and Finland.
The company has two of the highest-grade nickel producing mines in the world, Flying Fox and Spotted Quoll. Western Areas also has a 100% interest in Bioheap Ltd, a patented bacterial leaching technology.
Western Areas shares first listed on the ASX in 2000, and now make up part of the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO). Western Areas shares sit under the Diversified Metals and Mining sub industry.
