Mr Rann was Premier of South Australia for almost ten years from 2002 to 2011. While Premier, he also served as Minister for Economic Development, the Arts, Sustainability and Climate Change and Social Inclusion. In late 2012 Mike was appointed as Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and was a Governor of the Commonwealth Secretariat. In 2014 he was appointed as Australia's Ambassador to Italy, San Marino, Albania and Libya, and Permanent Representative to the UN's World Food Programme and to the Food and Agricultural Organisation.
