About ASX Ltd
ASX Ltd (ASX: ASX) is a public company that operates the largest securities exchange in Australia. It has an effective monopoly in listing, trading, clearing, and settlement of Australian cash equities, debt securities, investment funds, and derivatives.
Other activities include technology services, enforcing exchange rules, and managing exchange-related data. The ASX demutualised and listed on its own exchange in 1998 and acquired the Sydney Futures Exchange in 2006.
The ASX (Australian Securities Exchange) is one of the world's top 10 listed exchange groups measured by market capitalisation.

Mr Byres is an experienced leader with experience, both domestic and international, in the Australian financial system, financial services regulation, risk management, governance, and public policy. Mr Byres is a former Chair of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), a role he held for eight years. During that time, he also served on the Reserve Bank of Australia's Payments Systems Board, and was a member of the Australian Council of Financial Regulators. Prior to being appointed by the Australian Government as Chair of APRA, Mr Byres served as the Secretary General of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the global standard-setter for banking regulation and supervision. His earlier career included roles with APRA, the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Bank of England. Mr Byres has also worked in an advisory capacity with the International Monetary Fund.
