Australian Ethical Investment Limited (ASX: AEF) is an Australian wealth management company that invests according to its own strict ethical charter. As at June 3030, the company has more than $4 billion in funds under management and over 57,000 customers. Its products include managed funds and superannuation with its investments producing 75% less carbon emissions than the benchmark.
Australian Ethical focuses on ethical, sustainable and positive investments across sectors such as healthcare, IT and education whilst avoiding industries such as gambling, tobacco, and fossil fuels. The company was established in 1986 and regards itself as Australia’s leading ethical funds manager. It boasts an award-winning investment team which carefully evaluates prospective investments firstly under the company’s ethical charter and then using traditional risk/return investment analysis.
Headquartered in Sydney, Australian Ethical has around 50 employees nationwide. It works directly with end consumers as well as with financial advisors and organisations. According to the company, its investments have delivered more than 20 years of outperformance.
Australian Ethical listed on the ASX in December 2002. The Australian Ethical share price spent the majority of its first 13 years on the ASX trading well below 50 cents. It began a significant upward trend in early 2015 and, by mid-2020 had reached levels above $9. Since then, the Australian Ethical share price again trended down, spending much of the second half of 2020 trading at between $4 and $6.
