Suncorp is a Queensland-based financial services conglomerate offering retail and business banking, general insurance, superannuation, and investment products in Australia and New Zealand.
The core businesses include personal insurance, commercial insurance, Vero New Zealand, and Suncorp Bank.
Suncorp's insurance business trades under a number of brand names including AAMI, APIA, and GIO. Together with competitors IAG Insurance and QBE Insurance, the three companies dominate the Australian and New Zealand insurance markets.

Mr Machell is a member of the People Committee. Simon is a non-executive director of Prudential Assurance Company Singapore. He is also Chairman of the Pacific Life Re Limited Australian entity board, and a director of its Bermuda entity boards. Simon brings an international perspective on current industry trends in insurance, and insights into the risks and opportunities associated with emerging technologies, new business models and changing customer expectations. He was previously a non-executive Director of Tesco Bank and Chairman of Tesco Underwriting in the UK. Simon has operational and strategic knowledge of the insurance industry and has planned and delivered change programs. In his executive career, Simon spent ten years in CEO roles at Norwich Union/Aviva and has skills in the day-to-day management of an insurance business. He has experience in claims management, sales and finance and gained his experience in Asia Pacific and Europe. This domain knowledge allows him to both support and challenge management on all insurance related matters. Ms Brown, with a career spanning nearly 40 years, brings skills in financial services law, infrastructure, investments, and finance. Gillian has experience in environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives, corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, business restructures and disposals, and public private partnerships, strategy and risk allocation, workplace health and safety.
