About Zimplats Holdings Ltd
Zimplats Holdings Ltd (ASX: ZIM) is the leading mining company in Zimbabwe, Africa. It is involved in the mining and production of platinum group metals (primarily platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium, and osmium) as well as other associated metals (including nickel, gold, copper, cobalt, and silver) from the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe.
The company's majority-owned operating subsidiary, Zimbabwe Platinum Mines (Private) Limited, operates five underground mines. These supply
ore to three concentrators before further refining at the company's smelter in Selous, Zimbabwe.
In 1998, BHP was brought into a joint venture to develop a mine in the Great Dkye. Zimplats took over BHP's holding in 2001. The company has remained trading on the ASX ever since.
