It's been a bounce back into the green for the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) so far this Wednesday. After a shaky day yesterday, the ASX 200 is once again lifting higher this session. At the time of writing, the index has put on a pleasing 0.33% and has lifted to just under 7,530 points.

So let's now dive a little deeper into these happy gains by checking out the shares that are currently topping the share market's trading volume charts, according to investing.com.

The 3 most traded ASX 200 shares by volume this Wednesday

Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX: PLS)

Our first ASX 200 share worth a look today is the lithium heavyweight Pilbara Minerals. So far this Wednesday, a notable 12.34 million Pilbara shares have changed owners. At the same time, there hasn't been any fresh news out of Pilbara this week.

But that hasn't stopped the Pilbara share price from shooting up by an impressive 3.15% so far this session to $4.91 a share. It's this rise that looks like the catalyst behind the trading volumes we're seeing.

Telstra Group Ltd (ASX: TLS)

From PLS to TLS! Next up we have the ASX 200 telco Telstra. Telstra has seen a hefty 14.21 million shares change hands as it currently stands. All has been quiet on the Telstra ASX news front as well.

So we have to point to the rather wild share price swings from the telco today to explain this high volume. Telstra has had a bit of a strange day. Its shares are in the red by 0.36%, down to $4.105 a share right now.

But earlier this morning, Telstra was having a pretty decent day, rising as high as $4.14. So it's this volatility we can probably thank for the elevated trading on display.

Sayona Mining Ltd (ASX: SYA)

As is becoming usual, our final and most traded ASX 200 share of today is the lithium share Sayona Mining.

So far this session, a whopping 47.9 million Sayona shares have been bought and sold. As with Pilbara, we don't have any new news out of Sayona either, but a big share price movement nonetheless. Fortunately, this one is in the right direction.

After some bouncy trading today, the Sayona share price has risen by a healthy 2.98% this Wednesday thus far, and is going for 24.2 cents a share at the time of writing. It's this rise that looks responsible for the high trading volumes we are seeing.
