The ClearVue Technologies Ltd (ASX: CPV) share price hit the gas for shareholders today following its latest update.

At the closing bell, shares in the green technology company were situated at 46.5 cents apiece, rising 13.4%. The sizeable gain put ClearVue shares on pace with a three-week high. Notably, shareholders are now sitting on a gain of 72% over the past month.

Moreover, today's market announcement propelled the number of shares being exchanged on the market. While the average trading volume for this small-cap company hangs around 1.16 million, more than 3.7 million shares swapped hands today.

Two minds are better than one

The excitement getting behind ClearVue on the ASX today stems from its partnership agreement with D2Solar. This builds on top of an already lengthy relationship between the companies.

According to the release, ClearVue has signed a Master Services Agreement (MSA) with California-based D2Solar. As part of the agreement, the two companies will put their heads together to continue development on second and third-generation technologies.

Clearvue explained the rationale behind budding up with solar development company D2Solar. Importantly, the deal is expected to bring stability to ASX-listed ClearVue's supply chain. A locally sourced supply chain has become an influential factor in purchasing decisions within the US market.

Furthermore, the MSA enables the ability for both companies to enter into an exclusive supply agreement in the future. This would see D2Solar be the exclusive manufacturer of certain ClearVue components once the company reaches this stage.

Additional scope of work is being discussed to include development input from D2Solar. The expanded scope would encompass development efforts on the second and third generation of ClearVue's single and double-glazed products.

Commenting on the news, ClearVue executive chair, Victor Rosenberg said:

ClearVue is very pleased to be working with D2Solar – they are a one-of-a-kind service in solar technology development and are a pleasure to work with. Very few contract development teams globally have the depth of skills and knowledge that the team at D2Solar can offer – we have been very pleased to be working with them over the last few years and are very much looking forward to deepening this relationship going forward including as a tech development partner, contract manufacturing partner and through the proposed co-location.

Interestingly, the move in the ClearVue share price occurred despite the announcement being marked non-price sensitive.

How has the ASX treated the ClearVue share price lately?

ClearVue has made its way into 2022 in style. In the space of 5 weeks, the ClearVue share price has rocketed 86% higher. The bulk of these gains played out in January without any announcements to fuel the momentum.

However, it is worth noting that the company is coming off a low base. Between April 2021 and December 2021, ASX-listed ClearVue shaved off 73% from its share price.

The company currently holds a market capitalisation of $98 million.

The ClearVue share price is up 27% today, and 66% this week

Completed archetype model building scored impressive results on the energy star rating system

Work is currently underway to further progress ClearVue products

The ClearVue Technologies Ltd (ASX: CPV) share price has accelerated this week, registering impressive gains of 66% for investors.

This follows the company's announcement on Wednesday regarding recent modelling work undertaken to achieve energy neutral buildings.

At the time of writing, the smart building materials company's shares are up 27.78% to a 6-month high of 46 cents.

What's driving ClearVue shares higher?

In its release, ClearVue released the findings of a completed archetype model building demonstrating highly energy efficient improvements.

The company highlighted how its product can achieve a net-zero or near-zero energy-use building.

The modelling was completed on a design in Toronto, Canada, and benchmarked against the Toronto Green Standard (TGS) from 2030. This code is recognised as one of the world's highest standards of building performance.

The modelled building scored 99 out of 100 points in the energy star rating system and was in the top 1% of Canadian office buildings for energy performance.

ClearVue's patented solar glazing technology cuts heating and cooling costs, by diverting unwanted solar radiation to photovoltaic cells which convert to electricity.

The archetype model is a six storey office building on a 15,000 square metre footprint in Toronto, Canada. The building notably used higher glazing to wall ratios on the facades for higher solar exposure.

ClearVue stated that the current archetype modelling is restricted to the 'in-use' phase of the building. Work on the life cycle assessment is currently underway to produce an environmental product declaration for the ClearVue products.

ClearVue executive chair, Victor Rosenberg commented:

The developed Archetype model clearly shows how the ClearVue PV product can play a significant role in the design of Net Zero and Near Zero Energy Buildings of the very near future.

The ClearVue PV glazing through its energy efficiency and energy generation offers a solution for these architects, engineers and developers struggling with how to design buildings to meet these new codes while maintaining expansive views and maximising building daylighting.

About the ClearVue share price

Over the past 12 months, the ClearVue share price has surged more than 50%, reflecting positive investor sentiment.

Based on today's price, ClearVue commands a market capitalisation of roughly $97.36 million, with approximately 211.66 million shares on issue.

The ClearVue Technologies Ltd (ASX: CPV) share price has shot up this week, posting gains of almost 25% for investors.

This follows the smart building materials company's announcement on Wednesday that it had received a first order from a Japanese distributor.

At the time of writing, ClearVue shares are up 5.7%, trading at 37 cents.

What's driving ClearVue shares higher?

In its release, ClearVue advised that Japanese greenhouse leader Tomita had placed an order for its solar photovoltaic (PV) glazing solution.

ClearVue signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Tomita in April for the sale and marketing of its product.

The company said the patented solution would be used in a greenhouse at a tourism eco-project in Japan.

In total, 187 ClearVue glazing panels will be installed, covering an area of around 333sq m. This will be deployed into a roof of a strawberry greenhouse which forms part of the Aqua Ignis Hot Springs project.

The advanced glass technology incorporates a clear lamination layer between glass panels that drives unwanted wavelengths of UV and IR light to solar PV cells. Located around the edge of an integrated glazing window unit, the solar PV cells are used to generate electricity.

The company expects that the PV glazing panels on the greenhouse will generate approximately 8,573kWh of renewable energy per year.

No doubt, investors are excited about the company's latest developments, sending the ClearVue share price higher.

Management commentary

ClearVue executive chair Victor Rosenberg commented:

The Aqua Ignis project in Sendai is a great starting project for ClearVue distributor Tomita and it will provide invaluable insights into the installation and technical nuances of the ClearVue product before Tomita takes on larger scale greenhouse projects throughout Japan.

Additionally, the high-profile nature of the project will provide invaluable marketing and promotion for both Tomita and ClearVue, demonstrating not only the benefits of the ClearVue product but also its versatility in different application settings.

ASX renewable energy shares have been a much-discussed area of interest over the past few months (and years, to be fair). After all, 2020 was a pretty good year for the sector. On top of that, interest has picked up in recent weeks on the back of significant talk of a renewables-focused infrastructure package over in the United States. Such a package has indeed been proposed by the Biden administration, although we will have to see how it looks if it ever gets out of a closely divided US congress.

So, how have ASX renewables shares been tracking recently?

Quite well, as it turns out.

Take Tilt Renewables Ltd (ASX: TLT). Tilt is a power generation company that owns a portfolio of wind and solar farms across Australia and New Zealand. It has been a consistent winner for investors, adding nearly 90% to its share price in 2020. And another 31% in 2021 so far. Tilt was in the news last week after receiving an NZ$8 per share acquisition offer from a Canadian pension fund called CDPQ. That follows the takeover offer last month from AGL Energy Limited (ASX: AGL) and Mercury NZ Ltd (ASX: MCY).

ASX renewable energy shares continue to excite

Speaking of Mercury NZ, we have another ASX renewable energy share that has performed rather well over the past year, although not so well more recently. Just this week, in fact, we got a quarterly update from Mercury. The company announced that its hydro-electrical generation was up 8.5% over the quarter, although its forecasts for the full year reminded unchanged. Investors weren't too impressed though, judging by the flat share price that day.

ClearVue Technologies Ltd (ASX: CPV) has been another recent performer. As my Fool colleague reported last week, investors seem to have linked ClearVue with the Biden infrastructure plan. This company develops glass that can function effectively like a solar panel. ClearVue is up more than 500% over the past year, so it definitely has a lot of support out there.

Another ASX renewables company that isn't fairing so well though is Meridian Energy Ltd (ASX: MEZ). Meridian rose almost 100% in value between September last year and January this year. But the past few months have been proportionally unkind. Meridian has lost close to 40% of its value since 8 January. Investors weren't too impressed with an update that month which saw the company report a fall in electricity demand. Meridian has also been suffering more recently from institutional investment outflows as well.

I think we can all agree that ASX renewables shares have a birth future. So it will be interesting to see how these companies perform in the weeks, months and year ahead.

The ClearVue Technologies Ltd (ASX: CPV) share price just hit an all-time high. Shares hit a high of 84 cents intraday trading today. By the time of writing, however, the share price had fallen slightly to 83 cents. This is still 18.57% higher than the previous close.

Today's massive price gain comes as the company announced its "world first solar greenhouse" had officially opened.

Compared to the ClearVue share price, the S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Index (ASX: XAO) is only 0.23% higher.

Let's take a closer look at today's announcement.

What's affecting the ClearVue share price?

In a statement to the ASX, ClearVue declared the opening of its solar powered greenhouse in Perth, Western Australia.

The greenhouse, which is located within the campus of Murdoch University, was built using ClearVue Technologies "smart building materials." The facility will be used for developing new plant breeding technologies and integrating them to produce commercial crop varieties.

The company will conduct its own research on the building's energy generation and energy efficiency performances. Investors appear to be buying into the research, with today's strong performance of the ClearVue share price.

According to the statement, the new greenhouse uses a range of sensors that record and present data in real-time. This provides scientists with accurate information about temperature, humidity and the actual amount of light that plants are receiving. This information is then analysed to make real-time adjustments to settings inside the greenhouse, like temperature and lighting.

Management commentary

ClearVue Executive Chair, Victor Rosenberg, said

ClearVue is truly excited to finally be able to show to the World ClearVue's truly world leading product being used in this agricultural application – just one of the wide range of applications the ClearVue technology and products can be used for.

Estimates indicate the world's arable land has reduced by one third in the past 40 years. By 2050, two thirds of the world's population is predicted to be urbanised, which will further impact the availability of land for agricultural production.

We are confident that the ability to control the microclimate within the ClearVue greenhouse will create an optimum growing environment to achieve higher yields. Leafy plants require protection from harmful UV rays in the same way humans need to protect their skin. Plants do this naturally by producing a waxy substance that shields them from harmful UV rays.

The ClearVue IGU glazing blocks these UV rays, so the energy required by plants to create the protective layer on leafy vegetables can be preserved to growing bigger, tastier, fresher produce which leads to improved yields and quality of produce.

ClearVue share price snapshot

Over the past 12 months, the ClearVue share price has increased an amazing 676.2%. Just in the last month, the company's value has increased 93%!

Given its current valuation, ClearVue has a market capitalisation of $122.9 million.

It's another cracking day for the ClearVue Technologies Ltd (ASX: CPV) share price. This comes as it rallies a further 17% higher to 69 cents a share.

In isolation, today's performance alone is impressive, but the real eyebrow-raising occurs over a longer timeline. Taking a look at the bigger picture, the ClearVue share price is 65% higher now than it was a month ago. Right now you may be asking "what's the fuel setting the photovoltaic company's shares on fire? Let's take a look.

Renewables are gaining interest

ClearVue's share price has likely been the beneficiary in what seems to be an insatiable demand for renewable investments this year. To clarify, the company has developed glass that can harness solar energy, effectively turning windows into photovoltaic solar panels.

This means ClearVue could be accounted for in the same group as other recent renewable highflyers. These companies include:

Solar and wind farm operator, Tilt Renewables Ltd (ASX: TLT) up 92% in the last 6 months;

Solar farm operator Genex Power Ltd (ASX: GNX) up 24% in the last 6 months; and

Freshly listed bioenergy producer, Delorean Corporation Ltd (ASX: DEL) up 95% since its ASX debut yesterday.

Much of the excitement stems from the US government's $2 trillion (with a T) infrastructure and green energy plan. This is aimed at addressing climate change. Investors are clamming to get ahead of the curve, as governments begin to pour big money into renewables.

With a product that could see buildings making better use of all that vertical exposure, ClearVue is seeking to capture the spending needed to make a greener way of living.

Other news sending the ClearVue share price skyward

It's more than a prototype — that's what ClearVue has been pushing heavily with recent marketing efforts. The company emphasised this towards the end of March with its listing on the OTCQB, an over-the-counter market for early-stage companies in the US. Around the same time, ClearVue launched a marketing campaign targeting architects, façade engineers, and sustainability engineers.

In addition, ClearVue's latest share price jump comes after the appointment of Japanese greenhouse leader, Tomita Technologies, as a distributor. The agreement will see Tomita as the exclusive distributor in Japan for the next 5 years, with the option to extend. The deal shows promising signs for ClearVue to move ahead with commercialising its technology.

Having already gained 495% in the last year, the ClearVue share price is certainly outperforming the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO). For comparison, the benchmark index has delivered 29.4% over the last 12 months.

At market open, the company's shares kicked off at 31 cents before plummeting to around 26 cents and stabilising momentarily.

At the time of writing, the ClearVue share is down 14.5% to 26.5 cents.

What happened?

ClearVue advised that its interim CEO Kenan Jagger has handed in his resignation notice.

While Mr Jagger serves out his notice period, he will assist in the transition to incoming new management.

In this morning's release, the ClearVue board thanked him for his positive contributions over the last 2 years, in which he served as chief commercial officer before taking the helm as interim CEO. Mr Jagger was recognised in his efforts to improve sales, marketing, and investor relations activity.

The company advised it was pursuing a replacement with extensive experience, in order to continue moving the global ClearVue business forward.

In addition, the chase for a European CEO, as well as sales and marketing specialists in the United States is also ongoing. The company is developing its global roll-out strategy, and is searching for a leadership team in its tier 1 territories.

ClearVue stated it will update the market in the coming weeks with the inclusion of a European CEO, and other key management roles.

About the ClearVue share price

Despite today's decline, the ClearVue share price has performed relatively well over the past 12 months. Up more than 54% in that time, despite the company's shares witnessing a drop in March due to COVID-19.

Falling to an all-time low of 5 cents, the ClearVue share price settled around the mid-teens before moving on an upwards trajectory.

Joe Biden's US presidential election victory has brought renewable energy back into the spotlight. Biden has pledged that on his first day in office he will bring the US back into the Paris Climate Agreement and restore a number of environment protections that the Trump administration has revoked. His energy plan proposes an investment of US$1.7 trillion over 10 years to promote a portfolio of clean energy technologies.

There isn't much of a selection when it comes to large cap ASX renewable energy stocks. The large ASX energy producers like Origin Energy Ltd (ASX: ORG) and AGL Energy Ltd (ASX: AGL) utilise both 'dirty' and renewable sources to produce power.

However, the smaller end of town contains ASX renewable energy stocks that are much more aligned with creating sustainable, clean energy.

New Energy Solar Ltd (ASX: NEW)

New Energy Solar focuses on solar power generation with a number of assets across Australia and the US. Its shares have slumped 37% year-to-date to just 86 cents with a market capitalisation of $320 million.

As a result of the news, the ClearVue share price has surged 10.71% higher to 31 cents at the time of writing.

What ClearVue does

ClearVue is an Aussie tech company focused on the integration of solar technology into building surfaces, specifically glass and building facades, to provide renewable energy. It has developed advanced glass technology that aims to preserve the transparency and aesthetics of the glass whilst generating electricity at the same time. ClearVue worked closely with experts from Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia to develop the technology, which has been used across the building, construction and agricultural industries.

ClearVue share price rising on record order

The ClearVue share price is surging as the company announced it has received its first order out of South America from local company, AMB Brasil. AMB Brasil has been appointed the exclusive ClearVue distributor in Brazil.

This first order is for 500sq m of ClearVue product, worth approximately $278,700. The order represents ClearVue's largest order to date and reinforces proof of product for the company's technology.

Product to fulfil the order will be produced through ClearVue's manufacturers in China and will ship in early 2021 for installation into a number of projects being undertaken by AMB Brasil. The first of these projects is a commercial office tower, which will use roughly 250sq m of the product.

Commenting on ClearVue's first South American order and the appointment of its new Brazilian distributor, ClearVue CEO, Ken Jagger, said:

AMB Brasil's upcoming high-rise deployments of ClearVue technology is a perfect fit for our target market. A very near-term showcase retrofit, two commercial towers and further deployment opportunities within the wider AMB Brasil development site(s) represents a sensational example of environmentally focused high-rise construction globally. We are very much looking forward to a successful future with AMB Brasil as ClearVue's Brazilian sales partner in this key South American territory.

What now for the ClearVue share price?

With the appointment of AMB Brasil as a ClearVue distributor, the Aussie tech company adds to a growing list of global distributors and manufacturers of its technology. Shareholders will be encouraged by the fact the company is continuing to expand its reach abroad.

The ClearVue share price is currently trading a huge 63% higher so far this year.
