Let's see what these lithium stocks have just reported and how investors are responding to the news. Here's what you need to know:

Loyal Lithium Ltd (ASX: LLI)

The Loyal Lithium share price was up 2% on low volumes before giving back its gains.

This morning, the micro-cap ASX lithium share announced its strategic plan for 2025. The company advised that North America remains its primary focus, with a plan to capitalise on President Trump's Executive Order declaring a national energy emergency, addressing the need for a reliable and dynamic energy grid.

Loyal Lithium's managing director, Adam Ritchie, commented:

In this evolving political and economic landscape, we see a remarkable opportunity emerging in North America. Loyal Lithium is uniquely positioned to capitalise on this moment and broaden our business, thanks to our newly strengthened board, key partnerships, and a deep understanding of the North American market.

With a strong treasury and an impressive hard rock lithium portfolio, we are well-prepared to seize this North American ground-to-grid opportunity within a once-in-a-lifetime energy transition.

Winsome Resources Ltd (ASX: WR1)

The Winsome Resources share price was up as much as 10.5% to 49.2 cents before easing back a touch.

The catalyst for this was the announcement of a new, outcropping, high-grade spodumene-bearing pegmatite discovery at Winsome's Sirmac-Clapier Project in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Quebec, Canada. Importantly, the outcrop contains very high grade cesium mineralisation in addition to lithium mineralisation

The Sirmac-Clapier Project is located 30km from provincial road infrastructure and 40km from the Moblan Lithium Deposit owned by Sayona Mining Ltd (ASX: SYA).

The ASX lithium share's managing director, Adam Ritchie, commented:

New discoveries are always exciting at any stage of a company's development and this is no exception. We were confident of identifying new targets last field season with our focus on systematic, early stage exploration across the Company's portfolio.

There has been limited work at Sirmac-Clapier to date due to our significant drilling efforts at our flagship Adina Lithium Project, so it is great to make this find the first time we get our boots on the ground. While our focus remains on developing Adina and utilising the unique opportunity we have at Renard I look forward to further prospects being identified and evaluated after we receive all the pending assays and thoroughly review the results.

The S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) is having a disappointing finish to the week. In afternoon trade, the benchmark index is down 0.7% to 7,824.2 points.

Four ASX shares that are falling more than most today are listed below. Here's why they are dropping:

Clearview Wealth Ltd (ASX: CVW)

The Clearview Wealth share price is down 2.5% to 68.5 cents. This follows news that a major shareholder is selling down its holding in the financial services company. It advised that certain funds managed or advised by Crescent Capital Partners have agreed to sell in aggregate 73,114,246 shares to a range of sophisticated and institutional investors by way of a block trade at 59 cents per share. Crescent Funds will be left holding 225,174,975 Clearwiew Wealth Shares, representing approximately 34.59% of the shares on issue.

Loyal Lithium Ltd (ASX: LLI)

The Loyal Lithium share price is down 5.5% to 25.5 cents. This morning, the lithium explorer announced that it has received firm commitments to raise $3.3 million through the issue of 7,345,744 new shares at an issue price of ~$0.45 per share. This represents a significant premium to its current share price. However, this premium is the result of the company utilising the "flowthrough shares" provisions under Canadian tax law. These shares provide tax incentives to investors for expenditures that qualify as flow-through critical mineral mining expenditures.

Polynovo Ltd (ASX: PNV)

The Polynovo share price is down 3.5% to $2.12. This may have been driven by profit taking from some investors during today's very red session. After all, this medical device company's shares have been on a great run of late. For example, since this time six months ago, Polynovo's shares have risen over 50%. Over the same period, the ASX 200 index is up by 11%. Strong sales growth appears to have been the driver of Polynovo's gains.

Weebit Nano Ltd (ASX: WBT)

The Weebit Nano share price is down a further 7% to $2.26. This is despite there being no news out of the semiconductor company. However, it is worth noting that its shares have been under significant pressure since the release of its quarterly update. So much so, they are down almost 30% since its release. Investors appear to be finally waking up to the fact that it doesn't deserve to trade with such a lofty valuation when it is pulling in zero cash receipts and burning through cash like it is kindling.

At the time of writing, the benchmark index is up 0.4% to 7,620.4 points.

Four ASX shares that are rising more than most today are listed below. Here's why they are climbing:

Core Lithium Ltd (ASX: CXO)

The Core Lithium share price is up 6% to 26.5 cents. This is despite there being no news out of the lithium miner. However, it is worth noting that its shares were officially the worst performers on the ASX 200 in 2023. Some investors have a strategy that sees them start the year by buying "the dogs" of major indices. This could be happening today.

Grange Resources Limited (ASX: GRR)

The Grange Resources share price is up 6.5% to 49.5 cents. This follows the release of a board update, which reveals that the company's CEO, Honglin Zhao, will delay his retirement. Grange advised that Mr Zhao will continue to serve the company in his current position to ensure the goals of the next phase of important projects are achieved.

Loyal Lithium Ltd (ASX: LLI)

The Loyal Lithium share price is up 13% to 35 cents. This morning, the lithium explorer announced high grade channel assay results from three of the six pegmatite dykes at the Trieste Lithium Project in James Bay, Canada. Management notes that "the channel results from the summer field program demonstrate a strong lithium average grade across each dyke sampled."

West African Resources Ltd (ASX: WAF)

The West African share price is up over 2% to 96.5 cents. This follows news that the gold miner has made its first drawdown under the US$265 million secured loan facility from a fund managed by Sprott Resource Lending and Coris Bank International. The company has received its first US$100 million under the facility, which will be used for the development of the Kiaka Gold Project in Burkina Faso.

At one stage today, the lithium explorer's shares were up a massive 47% to 61 cents.

Loyal Lithium's shares have eased back a touch since then but remain up 24% to 51.5 cents this afternoon.

Why is the Loyal Lithium share price rocketing?

Investors have been fighting to get hold of the company's shares today after it released drilling results from the Trieste Lithium Project in James Bay, Canada.

According to the release, thick intercepts of spodumene bearing pegmatite were uncovered during its latest drilling. Pleasingly, all drill holes to date have intercepted spodumene bearing pegmatite at Dyke #01, which remains open in all directions.

Management notes that its drilling is providing a valuable insight into the geological setting and will enable the planning of a more substantial drilling program in the upcoming Canadian winter.

The good news is that Loyal Lithium is well capitalised to accelerate future drilling programs once current results have been interpreted.

Loyal Lithium's managing director, Adam Ritchie, commented:

We are delighted to have been able to commence this maiden drilling program just 6 weeks after the discovery at the Trieste Lithium Project. The geological understanding gained by this program has confirmed extensions of the spodumene bearing dyke beyond the exposed outcrop, which in turn has confirmed the possibilities of concealed extensions across the entire project.

The visual spodumene crystals within the core are large and abundant – in line with what we've seen at surface across the project. We will now have the core sent for assaying and commence planning for a more substantial drilling program in the winter.

ASX lithium share Loyal Lithium Ltd (ASX: LLI) has absolutely shot the lights out over the past two trading days.

On Tuesday, the lithium stock closed trading for 45 cents per share.

In morning trade today, those same shares were changing hands for 86 cents apiece, up a whopping 91%!

The Loyal Lithium share price has retraced a bit during the lunch hour, currently at 74 cents per share, leaving it up a heady 64% since Tuesday's close.

Why are investors so eager to get their hands on this lithium explorer?

What's driving the ASX investor interest?

Loyal Lithium shares resumed trading on the ASX earlier this month, on 3 August, after being halted way back on 29 March.

Loyal Lithium returned to trade after announcing it had commenced an extensive exploration campaign at its recently acquired Hidden Lake Lithium Project, located in Canada.

"With the first phase of our exploration program now underway, we can immediately see the potential of this underexplored project," Loyal Lithium's managing director Adam Ritchie said at the time.

Investors were clearly pleased with the news, sending the ASX lithium share up an eye-popping 72% on the day.

As for the huge leap over the past two days, that's being fuelled by yesterday's announcement of a "significant breakthrough" in the exploration program at the miner's Trieste Lithium Project, also in Canada.

Loyal Lithium said that based on the strong, early results, it was immediately preparing to kick off a drilling campaign.

Commenting on the progress which saw the ASX lithium share close up 50% yesterday, Ritchie said, "The discovery of five spodumene rich dykes gives us great confidence as we accelerate our exploration activities and prepare for drilling."

In morning trade, the ASX lithium stock is up a massive 22% to 55 cents.

Why is this ASX lithium stock charging higher?

Investors have been buying Loyal Lithium shares today after the company announced a "significant breakthrough" in the ongoing field program at the Trieste Lithium Project in James Bay, Canada.

According to the release, five spodumene bearing pegmatite dykes, with aligned implied continuous outcrops, have been identified within a 6 km2 area to the south of the Trieste Greenstone Belt.

Importantly, management notes that these pegmatite dykes are situated in a metasediment host. This leaves several high value greenstone targets that are yet to be explored.

The ASX lithium stock advised that preparation for drilling activities will now commence. This will see the existing in-field team from Dahrouge Geological Consulting (DGC) increase to a team of 19 field crew. The field program will also be enhanced to include additional tasks such as channel sampling, LiDAR surveys, and high-resolution geophysics.

'We are excited'

Loyal Lithium's managing director, Adam Ritchie, was very pleased with the news. He commented:

These discoveries are a true credit to the Loyal Lithium team and partners. We are passionate about Lithium and on a mission to play a part in the North American Lithium supply chain.

Although still very early, we are excited by the potential of this fertile area south of the Trieste greenstone. The discovery of five spodumene rich dykes gives us great confidence as we accelerate our exploration activities and prepare for drilling.

Following today's stellar gain, this ASX lithium stock is now up almost 80% since this time last year.

In morning trade, the lithium explorer's shares were up as much as 50% to 48 cents.

The Loyal Lithium share price has eased back a touch since then but remains up a sizeable 44%.

Why is the Loyal Lithium share price taking off?

Investors have been bidding the company's shares higher today after it announced the initiation of a comprehensive exploration program at the recently acquired Hidden Lake Lithium Project in Canada.

According to the release, a total of 315 untested individual outcrops have been identified via high-resolution satellite imagery. These untested pegmatite targets are in addition to the four main spodumene rich dykes, which have a drill and channel tested cumulative strike length of 2,250m and remain open along strike and depth.

Management highlights that the Hidden Lake Lithium Project is strategically located 45km east of Yellowknife. This is the capital of the Northwest Territories and is located within the emerging Yellowknife Lithium District adjacent to an all-weather highway to the south and east, and Li-FT Power's properties to the North.

Loyal Lithium's managing director, Adam Ritchie, believes the project has a lot of potential. He said:

With the first phase of our exploration program now underway, we can immediately see the potential of this underexplored project. The impressive historical metallurgical results are likely a product of the metasediment geological setting, with simple minerology resulting in large spodumene crystals throughout the pegmatites.

In respect to its suspension, Loyal Lithium returned to trade after completing the ASX recompliance process following the acquisition of four highly prospective North American Lithium Projects, which has formally transitioned the company to a lithium-led battery minerals and technology company.

The shares of ASX lithium stock Loyal Lithium Ltd (ASX: LLI) are on ice today.

So what is going on with this ASX lithium stock?

What's happening?

Loyal Lithium shares are frozen today at the company's request. The company is exploring lithium in the James Bay District of Quebec and Sarcobatus Flat in Nevada, USA.

The lithium explorer requested voluntary suspension ahead of an announcement. Loyal Lithium said this relates to a "proposed transaction under listing rule 11.1". It added:

This voluntary suspension will be in place until the Company has complied with the procedures outlined in section 2.10 of ASX Guidance Note 12 in relation to the proposed transaction.

Under listing rule 11.1, a company must provide full details to the ASX as soon as practicable if it plans to make a "significant change".

Loyal Lithium shares shot up 52% yesterday from 21 cents to 32 cents. However, Loyal Lithium was not the only lithium share to rise.

ASX lithium shares skyrocketed amid news Liontown Resources Ltd (ASX: LTR) had received and rejected a takeover offer from lithium giant Albemarle Corp (NYSE: ALB). Albermarle has a market capitalisation of US$25.6 billion.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Loyal Lithium announced it had identified "multiple high value targets" at the Trieste Lithium Project in James Bay, Canada. Loyal Lithium acquired this project in October 2022.

Commenting on this news, managing director Adam Ritchie said:

The identification of high value targets at the eastern extension of the Trieste greenstone provides us with great confidence prior to our summer field program.

Share price snapshot

The Loyal Lithium share price has risen nearly 21% in the last year. However, in the past month, it has dropped 3%.

The record date of the dividend will be 17 March 2023 and payment is planned for 31 March.

Commenting on the results, IGO acting CEO Matt Dusci said:

Strong lithium prices combined with a growing production profile at Greenbushes, generating outstanding financial returns for shareholders, while the team continues to focus on expanding the mine and processing capacity to deliver on future production growth.

Leo Lithium

Leo Lithium shares tanked 9.63% today to 61 cents apiece. This lithium company has a goal of becoming West Africa's first lithium producer.

Today, Leo Lithium reported a cash balance of $70.8 million as of 31 December.

Commenting on the results, managing director Simon Hay said:

The December quarter was a transformational one for Leo Lithium. Only a few weeks ago we received the results from a considerable resource upgrade which exceeded our expectations, confirming the large-scale, high-grade resource at Danaya, and creating new drilling targets for the team. The results also support the possible extension of the current 23-year mine life of the Goulamina Project.

Loyal Lithium

Loyal Lithium shares lost 8.26% on Tuesday.
A highlight for the company during the quarter was the formal name change and launch of the company's website www.loyallithium.com in November 2022.
