The 10F filing from Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc (NYSE: BRK.A)(NYSE: BRK.B) is probably one of, if not the, most anticipated on the entire American stock market.

The last time Berkshire Hathaway filed a 10F report, we covered some of Buffett's significant stock sales, as well as the far fewer buys.

So what does the latest report tell us?

What has Berkshire Hathaway been buying (and selling)?

Compared to the November 10F, this February's report was far tamer. However, Buffett was still a net seller of stocks over the three months to 31 December.

Here are some of Berkshire's major sales, according to WhaleWisdom:

HP Inc (NYSE: HPQ), with Berkshire selling US$2.4 billion worth of stock

Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL), US$1.93 billion sold

D.R. Horton Inc (NYSE: DHI), with US$710 million sold

Paramount Global Inc (NASDAQ: PARA) with US$450 million sold

Markel Group Inc (NYSE: MKL) with US$259 million sold

In contrast, Buffett's buys were a lot less enthusiastic:

Chevron Corp (NYSE: CVX), with Berkshire buying US$2.36 billion worth of stock

Occidental Petroleum Corp (NYSE: OXY), US$1.17 billion purchase

Sirius XM Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: SIRI), US$167 million purchase

Buffett doubles down on big oil

This is an interesting report to go through. Buffett is famous for his buy-and-hold investing, once commenting that his favourite holding time for an investment is "forever". So it's interesting to see Berkshire trim its largest position (accounting for more than 50% of Berkshire's portfolio) in Apple. Of Course, US$1.9 billion is something of a drop in the bucket – Berkshire still owns almost US$166.5 billion worth of Apple stock.

But the sale is still significant, given what Buffett has previously said.

Also significant is Buffett's buyup of oil giant Chevron, as well as Occidental. Last quarter's 10F filing revealed that Berkshire had offloaded shares in Chevron. As such, it's notable to see Buffett buying them back up, as well as shares in fellow oil stock Occidental. The recent volatility in oil prices (and thus the share prices of oil stocks) could have something to do with this.

Buffett's other major sale was in tech company HP. HP shares haven't gone anywhere for a while but did rally around 20% between October and December last year. So perhaps this gave Buffett an excuse to sell a big chunk of shares.

Foolish takeaway

Buffett's portfolio moves often seem to contradict the advice that he so generously showers on ordinary investors. Because we rarely get explanations or insights into Buffett's thinking (and if so, they usually come months later), I tend to think it's best to take what Buffett says as gospel advice, rather than what he does.

Warren Buffett probably ranks as the most frequently quoted investor in history. One of his most famous statements seems especially applicable in the current market environment: "Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful."

There's no question that many investors are fearful as a result of the stock market's volatility. However, true to form, Buffett is showing some signs of being greedy. Here are three stocks that Buffett is betting on big time right now.

1. Chevron

Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) (NYSE: BRK.B) added to its positions in only a handful of stocks in the fourth quarter of 2021. Chevron (NYSE: CVX) was one of them. And Berkshire's regulatory filing for its first-quarter results reveals that Buffett is still a fan of the oil and gas stock. As of the end of Q1, Berkshire owned $25.9 billion of Chevron shares.

There's no mystery behind why Buffett likes Chevron these days. Russia's invasion of Ukraine disrupted energy markets. Demand is picking up with fewer travel restrictions related to COVID-19. Oil prices have soared as a result of these factors.

Unsurprisingly, Chevron stock has trounced the market. Based on Berkshire's increased stake in the company during the first quarter, Buffett seems to think this outperformance can continue. He could very well be right.

Chevron stands as one of the strongest oil companies from a financial perspective. It's also expanding into clean energy with the pending acquisition of Renewable Energy Group.

2. Occidental Petroleum

While Chevron is Buffett's favorite oil stock, it's not his only one. Berkshire has also been busy scooping up shares of Occidental Petroleum (NYSE: OXY).

In Berkshire's Q1 regulatory filing, the company revealed that it had bought Occidental preferred stock, along with warrants to buy up to 83.86 million shares of common stock. Last week, another regulatory filing disclosed that Berkshire now owns 142.3 million Occidental shares.

Occidental should benefit from many of the same tailwinds as Chevron. Like Chevron, Oxy is also ramping up its clean-energy initiatives, including carbon capture projects.

Buffett probably especially likes the Occidental preferred stock that Berkshire owns. Those shares pay a juicy dividend yield of 8%. It won't take much share appreciation for this investment to pay off nicely.

3. HP

Tech stocks haven't exactly been Buffett's forte in the past. He's had a few successes but some notable flops, as well. However, this mixed record didn't deter Berkshire from opening a huge position in HP (NYSE: HPQ) recently.

Early last month, Berkshire purchased nearly 121 million shares of HP. It now stands as the largest shareholder of the technology giant, owning around 11% of its outstanding shares.

Why does Buffett (or one of his investment managers) like HP so much? The most likely reason is that the stock is cheap. Even with the boost provided by the revelation of Berkshire's stake, HP's shares trade at only 8.6 times expected earnings.

Buffett probably also likes HP's dividend yield of 2.7%. And he's a fan of share buybacks. HP plans to repurchase at least $4 billion of its stock this year.

What happened

HP's (NYSE: HPQ) share price is rising sharply this morning after investors found out that Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway recently took an 11% stake in the personal computer and printer company.

The tech stock is up by 16.3% as of 10:47 a.m. ET.

So what

Berkshire Hathaway revealed in an SEC filing yesterday that it had purchased about 121 million shares of HP. That massive purchase now makes Warren Buffett's company the largest shareholder of HP.

The move comes on the heels of Berkshire Hathaway's acquiring the insurance company Alleghany for $11.6 billion.

When Buffett's company snatches up a significant portion of a company's stock or makes an acquisition, investors often pay close attention because of Buffett's proven track record as a successful investor.

Additionally, the fact that Berkshire bought shares of a technology company -- technology being a sector that Buffett typically stayed away from for many years (before buying Apple stock about six years ago) -- is likely causing additional enthusiasm from HP investors.

Now what

It's no surprise that HP investors are excited about this latest development. When Buffett's Berkshire invests in a company, it often signals to other investors that buying shares of the company could be a good long-term investment strategy.

With today's huge share price jump, HP's stock has gained a very impressive 47% over the past six months. And with Berkshire now HP's largest shareholder, investors are hoping that they have more to look forward to in the coming years.

This comes after the company announced a positive development with a major contract.

At the time of writing, the hearing solutions provider's shares are swapping hands for 5.3 cents, up 6%.

What did Nuheara announce?

Investors are pushing Nuheara shares higher following the company's latest update.

According to this morning's release, Nuheara advised it has begun mass production of HP Elite Wireless Earbuds for HP Inc (NYSE: HPQ). This follows HP's recent approval of the initial samples, paving the way for commercial production.

Nuheara highlighted that this will be the first product to be manufactured under the umbrella supply agreement. Both parties entered into a partnership arrangement in late December last year.

The Elite Wireless Earbuds will be offered as bundled options to customers with the purchase of select HP notebook computers.

Large-scale manufacturing of the Elite Earbuds has started, with shipment to take place in early May 2021.

What did the CEO say?

Nuheara CEO Justin Miller commented on the partnership agreement:

We are incredibly proud to be working and developing products for HP, a global technology leader. Nuheara's co-development of the new HP Elite Wireless Earbuds has seen this new product delivered, from concept to mass production, in record time.

Our strong working relationship with HP has been critical in developing and manufacturing this product seamlessly. As global leaders in our respective markets of PCs and Hearables, Nuheara anticipates the strengthening of this partnership over the next three years to continue the supply of innovative audio solutions to HP's customers.

About the Nuheara share price

The Nuheara share price has accelerated to more than 200% in the last 12 months, particularly from July 2020 onwards. The company's shares reached a 52-week high of 6.6 cents in August before moving in circles thereafter.
