The outperforming miner in question is Native Mineral Resources Holdings Ltd (ASX: NMR).

Native Mineral shares closed yesterday trading for 10 cents. In early morning trade on Tuesday, shares are changing hands for 11 cents apiece, up 10%. And that's despite the gold price slipping 1% overnight to US$4,992 per ounce.

With those intraday gains factored in, investors who bought the ASX All Ords gold stock on 2 January this year will already be sitting on gains of 83.3%. Not a bad start to the new year!

Now, here's what's grabbing investor interest once more today.

ASX All Ords gold stock surges on gold pour

The Native Minerals share price is rocketing after the miner reported on Monday that it completed a major gold pour at its Blackjack Processing Plant in Queensland.

The ASX All Ords gold stock produced seven doré bars comprised of 1,543.5 ounces of gold.

"Yesterday's gold pour demonstrates the continued operating stability of our Blackjack processing team, with seven doré bars produced and safely prepared for refining," Minerals managing director and CEO Blake Cannavo said. "In parallel, we are progressing a focused set of reliability, safety and growth workstreams."

What else is happening with Native Minerals?

Native Minerals said it has scheduled a shutdown this week to complete maintenance, inspection, and reliability works across Blackjack's crushing, grinding, and leaching circuits. The work being undertaken is intended to support stable throughput and improved operating reliability at the plant.

"An 84-hour planned shutdown is scheduled this week across the crushing and leaching circuits to complete maintenance and uplift plant reliability," Cannavo said. "Ausenco is also progressing whole-of-plant P&ID [piping and instrumentation diagram] as-built verification and an ongoing HAZOP to support safe operations and continuous improvement."

The ASX All Ords gold stock reported that it has also engaged AMC Consultants to progress block model updates, pit optimisation, detailed pit design, and production scheduling using the completed reverse circulation (RC) drilling assay dataset.

"On the mining side, AMC is advancing block model updates, pit optimisation and detailed mine design to support sustained mill feed planning, while Podosky assay results are expected shortly," Cannavo said.

Commenting on the rest of the work being undertaken, Cannavo added:

Across the broader Charters Towers portfolio, our ERC and PRCP workstreams continue to progress, including finalisation of the Far Fanning traffic impact assessment, permanent water supply options for Blackjack as well as ongoing TSF Stage 4 and new TSF design activities with ATC Williams.

Tuesday is proving to be a rough day for the broader ASX mining sector, but three shares are bucking the trend to rocket on news of major discoveries.

They're gaining as much as 24% right now following the release of exciting announcements.

Meanwhile, the S&P/ASX 200 Materials Index (ASX: XMJ) is weighing on the market, falling 0.1%. For comparison, the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) is up 0.3% right now.

So, what have these tiny ASX mining shares announced to the market today? Keep reading to find out.

3 ASX mining shares soaring on new discoveries

Let's start with the once in a 'blue' moon – or at least, once in 50 years – discovery announced by Green Technology Metals Ltd (ASX: GT1).

The company has uncovered a new discovery, named Blue Bear. It marks the first new find at its flagship Seymour Lithium Project in more than half a century.

It will now push to delineate the discovery's scale and test further targets at the project. It's expected to culminate in an updated mineral resource estimate in the coming months.

The ASX mining share is soaring on the news, gaining 7% to trade at $1.07 right now.

It's joined in the green by its peer, Sarytogan Graphite Ltd (ASX: SGA). The stock has launched a whopping 28.3% to trade at 29.5 cents right now.

The graphite explorer announced high-grade drill results from its namesake project this morning. The drill program is still ongoing and is set to enable an updated mineral resource estimate in the first quarter of 2023.

The final ASX mining share taking off on news of a discovery today is Native Mineral Resources Holdings Ltd (ASX: NMR).

It released an update on drilling underway at Northern Queensland's Maneater Hill Polymetallic Sulfide Prospect. A second diamond drill at the project has intersected targeted sulfide breccia at a depth of 120 metres, confirming the potential that it extends further than anticipated.

The ASX mining share is up 5.7% right now, trading at 18.5 cents.

Copper and gold exploration company Native Mineral Resources Holdings Ltd's (ASX: NMR) share price is shooting higher today, up 17% in late afternoon trading.

Shares of the microcap stock only began trading on the ASX last week, on 16 November. Since then the share price is up 25%, giving the company a market cap of $21 million.

For comparison, the All Ordinaries Index (ASX: XAO) is up 1.7% since 16 November.

We take a look at why Native Mineral's is soaring below. But first…

What does Native Mineral Resources do?

Native Mineral Resources is a 100% Australian owned copper and gold exploration company. It has extensive minerals exploration tenements in Queensland and Western Australia.

The company raised $5.7 million via its initial public offering (IPO), issuing 28.7 million shares for 20 cents per share. Native Mineral Resources holds a large portfolio of advanced exploration tenements in Queensland (Palmerville Project and Mount Morgan Project) and Western Australia (Eastern Goldfields Project). It's currently conducting drilling tests at its Leane's Copper Prospect in Queensland.

Why is the Native Mineral share price leaping higher today?

In an announcement to the ASX this morning, Native Mineral Resources revealed it has received "excellent initial results" from its test drilling program at its Leane's Copper Prospect in Queensland.

Drilling started in mid-November, with 6 of the 15 planned drill holes now complete. The company expects to finish drilling by mid-December.

Five of the drillholes testing for shallow skarn-mineralisation intersected near-surface iron-rich breccia with elevated copper.

Native Mineral Resources also reported that its plans to start exploration in other areas of its Palmerville Project and Eastern Goldfield Project in early 2021 were well-advanced.

Commenting on the drill results, Native Mineral Resources managing director Blake Cannavo said:

Following these encouraging early results from shallow drilling, our field crew is now ready to commence a diamond drillhole to test mineralisation at depth as the current drillhole has intersected porphyry veins suggesting the presence of a larger intrusive system below the skarn-breccia zone.

The first tranche of samples has been dispatched for analysis and we look forward to receiving the results in December. In Parallel, we are also planning our 2021 exploration programs for both the Palmerville and Eastern Goldfields Projects, and look forward to testing several other priority targets over the coming months.
