New Hope Corporation Limited (ASX:NHC) is a diversified energy company based in South East Queensland. The company began life as a coal mine operator and was established in Ipswich in 1952. In 1980, New Hope exported its first international shipment of coal and was one of the first companies to trial the use of Ipswich coal in Japan.

Since its early days, New Hope has expanded its operations and now has interests spanning coal mining, oil, agriculture, port operations, technology, and investment.

Throughout its history, New Hope has made numerous acquisitions including Northern Energy Corporation in 2011.

New Hope Corporation listed on the ASX in 2003. Between 2003 and the middle of 2008, the New Hope share price enjoyed significant gains of nearly 700%. Since then, the energy company’s shares have produced mixed results and have largely trended lower since March 2019.
