Amaysim Australia Ltd (ASX: AYS) is an Australian provider of retail mobile phone and energy plans. According to the company, its products feature transparent pricing and no lock-in contracts. Amaysim has grown to become the fourth largest mobile service provider in the country and has over one million customers. The company has won numerous service and customer satisfaction awards including from Canstar Blue and Finder.
In early November 2020, Amaysim announced it had entered into an agreement to sell its mobile business to its wholesale partner, Optus, for $250 million. According to the company, the deal will unlock between $207 and $225 million of shareholder value which will be distributed upon the deal’s completion. The deal is subject to shareholder approval at an extraordinary general meeting expected to be held in early 2021 but is unanimously recommended by the board.
The Amaysim share price first listed on the ASX in July 2015. As at November 2020, the company’s shares have fallen more than 50% in value since listing.
