I think there is a lot of quality in the mid cap space right now for investors to choose from. The hardest thing might be deciding which shares to buy ahead of others.

To help narrow things down I have picked out three top mid cap shares that I would consider buying this week.

They are as follows:

Citadel Group Ltd (ASX: CGL)

Citadel is a growing software and services company that specialises in IT security and data management. I believe it is well-positioned to grow earnings at a solid rate over the coming years thanks to the growing amount of data being generated by businesses and how important it is to keep it secure. Citadel should benefit from this trend due to the increasing popularity of its Citadel-Information Exchange (Citadel-IX) cloud-based enterprise information management platform. This platform allows its users to securely access and transfer proprietary and sensitive information remotely.

Kathmandu Holdings Ltd (ASX: KMD)

Last month this outdoor retailer held its annual general meeting and provided the market with a trading update. For the first 15 weeks of FY 2019 Kathmandu's sales are up 8.4% on a constant currency basis excluding the recently acquired Oboz business. This has been driven by an impressive increase in same store sales in both the Australian and New Zealand markets. During the period same store sales were up 7.1% in Australia and 5.2% in New Zealand. Combined, this equates to same store sales growth of 6.3% for Kathmandu on a constant currency basis. Kathmandu's chief executive officer Xavier Simonet advised that the company has continued to experience strong demand for its core products, following a strong winter period. Despite this solid growth its shares are still trading at under 12x earnings.

Nanosonics Ltd (ASX: NAN)

Nanosonics is an infection control specialist which I think is worth considering with a long term view. The company's popular trophon EPR product has been growing its installed base in the U.S. at a strong rate over the last few years due to being regarded as the best in its class and environmentally friendly. This year the company released a new version of the product which I believe has cemented its position as the market leader. This should put it in a strong position to capture a growing share of the market in the coming years.

Motley Fool contributor James Mickleboro has no position in any of the stocks mentioned. The Motley Fool Australia owns shares of and has recommended Nanosonics Limited.
