The Auscann Group Holdings Ltd (ASX: AC8) share price has had a strong start to the week.

In afternoon trade the medicinal cannabis company's shares are up 4% to 38 cents.

This is the second trading day in a row of gains for AusCann. Its shares also climbed higher on Friday after the company announced that it had appointed a Chief Medical Advisor.

International medical cannabis expert, Dr. Danial Schecter, has taken on the role and will assist with the company's doctor training and awareness plans.

Management believes this is a key part of its strategy to educate the medical community on the potential benefits of cannabinoids as therapeutic agents to treat certain conditions, such as chronic pain.

Time will tell whether the strategy results in meaningful sales in the future. Here's a recent summary of recent goings on in the pot stock industry.
