The S&P/ASX 200 Index (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) has finished Monday's trading session down 0.38% after recouping some of the losses which caused the market to fall almost 1% earlier in the day.

In the US on Friday, the Dow Jones ended up 0.3%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.28% to finish at a record closing high, however the local market was primarily influenced by heightening tensions between Russia and the Ukraine. The developing situation in the Ukraine looks set to carry over into tonight's trading on Wall Street judging by the futures markets, although tomorrow local traders will also be influenced by the outcome of the Reserve Bank of Australia's monthly meeting.
