Best and worst stocks on the ASX at midday

The local bourse is holding on to early gains at lunchtime today with the S&P/ASX 200 Index (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) rising 0.71%. Overnight US markets closed relatively flat after payrolls data which showed weak job creation overshadowed positive services sector data.

Here are the top five best performing stocks in the index at midday:

  • Acrux Limited (ASX: ACR) has rallied 7.05% to $2.05
  • Virgin Australia Holdings Ltd (ASX: VAH) has added  5.4% to 33.2 cents
  • Lynas Corporation Limited  (ASX: LYC) has gained 4.53% to 27.7 cents
  • Independence Group NL (ASX: IGO) is up 4.2% to $2.50
  • EVOLUTION FPO  (ASX: EVN) has climbed 3.9% to 67.5 cents

These are the five worst performing stocks at midday:

  • Southern Cross Media Group Ltd (ASX: SXL) has slipped 2.6% to $1.53
  • REA Group Limited (ASX: REA) has lost 2.1% to $43.80
  • Qube Holdings Ltd (ASX: QUB) has fallen 2% to $1.98
  • Karoon Gas Australia Ltd  (ASX: KAR) is down 1.7% to $2.97
  • Asciano Ltd (ASX: AIO) has declined 1.6% to $5.46
