The ALL ORDINARIES (INDEXASX: XAO) (ASX: XAO) has had a rollercoaster 2015 year but has still managed to gain 5% since January.

That's not much when you consider 2 stocks have quadrupled and another 8 have seen their share prices triple since the beginning of January, as the table below shows.

Company Current market cap ($m) Percentage change
St Barbara Ltd (ASX:SBM) 245.1 346%
Prophecy International Holdings Limited (ASX:PRO) 104.7 345%
Talisman Mining Ltd. (ASX:TLM) 92.1 294%
Senetas Corporation Limited (ASX:SEN) 215.6 270%
Ziptel Ltd (ASX:ZIP) 52.4 263%
Adacel Technologies Limited (ASX:ADA) 84.0 259%
SmartTrans Holdings Limited (ASX:SMA) 72.8 230%
Mirabela Nickel Limited (ASX:MBN) 84.6 214%
Tech Mpire Ltd (ASX:TMP) 29.8 205%
Bellamy's Australia Ltd (ASX:BAL) 482.6 204%

Source: Yahoo & Google Finance data

Interestingly, the table contains a mix of different types of stocks, from gold miners St Barbara Ltd (ASX: SBM) and Talisman Mining Ltd (ASX: TLM), through to technology stocks Prophecy International Holdings Limited (ASX: PRO), Senetas Corporation Limited (ASX: SEN), Ziptel Ltd (ASX: ZIP), Adacel Technologies Limited (ASX: ADA), SmartTrans Holdings Limited (ASX: SMA) and Tech Mpire Ltd (ASX: TMP).

Tech Mpire is actually a backdoor listing of a digital performance-based marketing company, which earns commissions from advertisers and has been growing revenues substantially.

Also making it onto the list is baby formula producer Bellamy's Australia Ltd (ASX: BAL). Bellamy's has produced exceptional growth in earnings since listing in August 2014. Products are flying out the door and signs suggest that the strong growth should continue.

Foolish takeaway

Some of the companies listed above may have reached their full potential – and this might be their peak – but others may have just begun their journey and could go on to generate substantially more returns for shareholders. The key may lie in the sector most heavily represented in the table above – technology.
